Bio

Jack Seamans (b. 1998) is a digital artist residing in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated in August of 2024 from Florida State University’s College of Fine Arts, with a focus on graphic design and animation. Seamans’ works, which are primarily digital, explore such topics as one’s identity and personal experiences with art, and taking an appreciation in the ways that those experiences can change in future interactions involving the same works. On top of creating logos for multiple small businesses, Seamans created digital marketing ads for a Tallahassee restaurant’s physical location and social media pages in the Spring of 2021. On top of this, he collaborated on multiple animation shorts while at Florida State. Seamans aims to continue creating digital works in a professional setting, utilizing his experience in Blender and the Adobe Creative Suite.

Artist Statement

From a young age, art has been a pillar in my life. Having been raised in the age of technology, I have been exposed to all points on the art and entertainment spectrum. When I picked up my Gameboy and played Super Mario Advance, I took as much enjoyment from taking in the style of the sprites and world around them as I did the game itself. With the works that I create, I want to inspire that kid somewhere. When I am creating a work, I am not looking for ways to reinvent the wheel as much as I am looking for ways to change the color of it. The works that impress me the most are ones that take well-known concepts and breathe fresh air into them. With styles new or old, stories known or unknown, I strive to create experiences that carry on the tradition of animation.

There is an inherent childlike wonder to animation that I try to express in my works. When you see a creation of mine come to life for the first time, I want you to believe it. Even if it is a cluster of pixels on a three-inch screen, I want you to appreciate its place in its world. I aim to convey the possibilities of animation in my body of works, which spans from pixel art to 2D to 3D to virtual reality. My works show how an idea can be portrayed in many forms of animation, new and old.

When I begin the process of creating art, I become engulfed in it. My entire world revolves around its creation, and I often daydream about ways to add to my art when I’m not physically working on it. Animation is about knowing how to capture life piece by piece. While I don’t claim to have created any new or unknown methods of animation, I am proud to be continuously in the process of breaking down the world around me into pieces and building it back through small, believable movements.
